At last the rain stopped. When the water went down, the huge boat landed on the top of a mountain. Only the mountaintops were sticking up out of the water. About 40 days later Noah sent a dove out to find dry ground. But the dove could not find a place to land and came back. A week later Noah sent the dove out again in search of land. This time it brought back a small olive twig. The earth was almost dry! The next week when Noah sent out the dove, it didn't come back. This time everyone got off the boat. God put a colorful rainbow in the sky. The rainbow showed God's promise never again to destroy the earth with water.
